About Us

Welcome to the Central and Western (C&W) District Information Platform.
From the very beginning, the C&W District was the first district to be developed in the territory, and has flourished and become a major political and economic hub. The district is an amalgam of East and West, the past and the present, and is home to many important landmarks such as the Government House, the Central Government Offices of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, the Legislative Council Complex, etc. It also preserves a number of historic buildings, including the Central Police Station Compound (also known as “Tai Kwun”), the Central Market and the Western Market. Not only does the C&W District have a modern and cosmopolitan side, but it also retains many streets and neighbourhoods of local and traditional characteristics. Its cultural diversity is epitomised by the blend of old and new architecture and the unique customs and traditions therein. In addition, the District offers the scenery of the Peak, Mount Davis and the promenade, which is delightful at dawn and dusk. Providing an array of attractions for both active and quiet activities, the District is a much-loved destination for both residents and visitors alike.
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, the C&W District Information Platform has been set up to provide a one-stop portal for local residents and visitors to Hong Kong to get information on the facilities and services, tourist attractions, monuments and heritage, among others, of the C&W District.
The C&W District Office will continue to be pragmatic and put people first. We will stay connected with residents by listening to their opinions and actively acting as a bridge between the public and various government departments. We will earnestly address people’s livelihood concerns and difficulties in daily life, build a harmonious and prosperous community, and promote the development of the C&W District. We will strive to create a better living environment for the public and realise the vision of “actively responding to the aspirations of the people”.
